UPDATE: Stellan was born healthy and they can find no trace of his heart problems now! WOW! Check it out here.
If you frequent my blog, you have probably noticed the button to the right that says “Praying for MckMama”....that one….right there.-------------------------------------------->
I found her blog through another blog I read. She is pregnant with her 4th baby and was told 13 weeks ago that his heart was irreparably damaged due to a congenital electrical defect very similar to Tim’s and that IF he made it to a viable gestational age, he would be delivered, but would likely die before that. She posted to her blog vigilantly while in the hospital for weeks and weeks enduring the side effects of antiarrythmic drugs she was taking on behalf of little unborn Stellan.
And then miraculously, Stellan’s little heart went back into a normal sinus rhythm, his hydrops decreased, and his heart size came closer to normal (though it is still somewhat enlarged). She was sent home and by the glory of God, tomorrow she will deliver little Stellan via c-section at 37 weeks gestation!
All bets are off as to how Stellan will fair once he is separated from his lifeline inside his mommy’s womb, but please take time to say a prayer for her (or send some positive thoughts her way), little Stellan and the doctors and nurses who will attend the delivery tomorrow morning at 9:30am CST.

Personality Quirk
I recently took a personality test. Granted, it was on Facebook, but still. I’ve taken them in the past “for real” and gotten comparable results, so bear with me. So, back to my personality…..it said that I’m almost as neurotic as I am conscientious. Okay, if you know me well, is that a surprise at all?!
According to the ever popular Wikipedia, neurosis includes a whole slue of symptoms and behaviors, some of which aren’t so pleasant. But since it’s my blog, I’ll focus on the ones that aren’t so horrible and are evident in my every day life….vigilance, compulsive acts, repetitious thoughts, obsession, cynicism, dependency, perfectionism. Yea, and those are the “pleasant” ones! Yowza….am I a total nutcase or what?!
From what I’ve heard, I’ve been neurotic for as long as I’ve been on this earth, so it’s nothing new or surprising. For fear of sounding totally crazy, I won’t share with you all of my neurotic behaviors, but they’re there and they always have been. Some of them are downright annoying to me (and others who have to live with me I’m sure), but in my detail-oriented job, some of them actually serve me well so I won’t complain too much.
Anyway, I’ll get to the point of this post eventually…one of my neurotic behaviors as a small child was sleeping with my books. I slept in my parents’ bed til I was like 18 or something (kidding really, but I slept with them for entirely too long as a kid), and my mom would read me a book every night before bed. Then I would ask to sleep with it—seriously—and I even remember this. So I would go to sleep “cuddling” a book, not a plush cuddly bear, a book people. Strange!
Well last night, Makenzie brings me a book about Daniel and the lion’s den and asks me to read it. So I obliged and then told her it was time to lay down with Mommy and cuddle before bed. And then she did it….she asked to take the book with her to cuddle in bed. I turned on my heels and looked at her like I had surely misunderstood…”you want to what?” And she repeated….”I want to cuddle my book Mommy.”
I already had an inkling she had a little bit of this. She can’t stand being dirty and will emphatically ask to have her hands washed if there is a speck on them and she routinely asks to “touch” random things every night as her daddy carries her to bed (the light switch, the wall sconce etc etc). Oh good Lord, tell me this isn’t my genetic contribution to my sweet little girl. She’s a carbon copy of her daddy in every other way and I often wish out loud that she had something of “me” in her, but THIS is what she gets from me? Cruel, cruel irony I tell you.

Sunday Afternoon
Today we enjoyed "Seussical, the Musical" as a fringe benefit of Daddy's J-O-B. We stopped by a friend's house on the way for some wonderful barbecue, cutting out early (hopefuly not rudely) to make it on time to Rudder Theatre.
It was really cute and Makenzie seemed to enjoy it. Her attention span lasted nearly the entire show, just waning at the end along with many of the other kiddos in the audience.
Once we got home, we spent some time outside enjoying the Texas fall weather.
