Christmas Festivities

We took our annual trip to Wheelock to pick out our tree, as we have done for 4 years or so now.

Once we found just the right one, Tim cut it down with Makenzie supervising!

On to Christmas morning....Makenzie went straight to the Razor first.

This easel however has become one of her favorite Santa gifts! She has been playing school with it. I remember doing that as a little girl for hours!
She wanted a Nintendo DS, but for the same price, we knew we could get her a Kindle Fire and that it would be capable of so much more. Here she is trying to figure out what was in the box.
And here she is once she figured it out! Zoned out!

Holiday Recital

Makenzie's dance troupe did a little Christmas recital again this year. It was at a different park this year, but she did great once again!

Another First

It doesn't seem possible, but this morning we walked our baby girl into elementary school for her first day of kindergarten. No tears from her, but I could tell she was nervous. I had to take some deep breaths and hold it together until I got home. I hope the big bad world is kind to her!

Mini Vacation 2011

In between graduation and my new job beginning, we took a mini vacation to San Antonio. We stopped on the way and spent a day shopping at the outlet malls first. Then we made our way to our very family-friendly hotel to check in and swim of course.

I would recommend this hotel for families. They greet the kids with a little bag full of toys and treats, provide cookies and milk before bed the first night, movies by the outdoor pool each evening, they have an indoor pool, and an awesome breakfast buffet that we received free with our package. We stayed in a suite so Makenzie had her own little area where she slept on a hideaway bed, and she even had her own t.v. and area to play.

Friday we spent some time at the San Antonio Zoo, which I hadn't been to since I was a child. It was HOT but fun nonetheless. We spent the evening swimming back at the hotel again.

Look closely at the picture below: there is a hippo butt behind Makenzie's head!

The real black swan.

We road the little choo choo too!

This was at the beginning before she got hot, tired and cranky!

Saturday we explored downtown a little and spent another HOT day walking around the Mercado before making our way back for more swimming and rest.

Sunday was our Seaworld day. We had never been, so we paid extra for the Ultimate Seafari Tour which was AWESOME! We arrived before the park opened (and it was still cool out) and got a private tour with 4 other families.

We got to go to each main attraction and do everything before the park opened and the craziness began. So we got to pet and feed the dophins all by ourselves, feed the sealions and tour everything in a small group. We then got front row seats for the Shamu show and spent the afternoon at the waterpark staying cool!

Waiting for the tour to begin!

These are the most fascinating animals--so smart and sweet!

Hungry sealions!

We were so close--such a great memory. This show is no longer showing at Seaworld San Antonio. A new show replaced it a couple weeks after our time there.
